About the Book
Book cover art curated by Artist Meredith Palmer Bogardus of Palmer's Designs.
Cancer didn't kill her. Instead, cancer took her childhood friend and neighbor, and her beloved career. Based on actual events, Pause Sometimes Stillness is the Strategy is a memoir-style non-fiction novel. The author, Sonia Robinson, shares her story as she traverses childhood, career, divorce, breast cancer, love, and loss.
Carefully following the recipe handed down by her great-grandmother, Mamie. It's a recipe with three ingredients: family, hard work, and faith in God. Pause is a story about a real, raw, and flawed protagonist trying to keep a steady paycheck, health insurance, and keep her two young sons in their childhood home.

Sometimes Stillness is the Strategy
A heartfelt, well-written memoir. Sonia's career story is fascinating; her experiences will resonate with many women who do their best, juggle careers & families, and then navigate management and/or tricky situations.

Sonia is a writer and I'm flattered to be a part of her story. I cannot wait to chat with Sonia about the entire process of bringing this book to life and I will be hosting a book signing at Mo'Bay Beignet Co. in Mobile, AL.
Jaclyn Robinson, Founder of Mo'Bay Beignet Co.
In her debut work, Sonia Simmons Robinson bravely shares her personal story rooted in heritage and founded on a family recipe passed down by her great-grandparents. She offers valuable learnings for executive women currently leading and those preparing to lead tomorrow.
Kimberly Hamler, co-author of the Positively Positive Series
Sonia’s joy is infectious. She is reclaiming and changing the phrase ‘it’s just business’ to help us create healthier spaces in work and life. Sometimes I need a reminder to pause. This book gave me the ability to recognize the wisdom one can glean from a pause.”
